Make Mine Salty AND Sweet Please

 

I have made three batches in one week of these heavenly cookies...

ya see, I have the worst ever salty AND sweet tooth.

Every time I eat something sweet, I must have something salty.

Unfortunately it works the other way around, too!

 

When I saw this salty sweet cookie on Pinterest...

I HAD to try it.  The best part is the sprinkle of salt on top.

Don't be scared to put a whole pinch on... yum!

 

I traced the pin back to The Diary Of Dave's Wife blog...

such a cute blog... you should read it while the cookies bake!

She calls them..

and I would concur!

Painted Pumpkin Biscuits

We are always trying out fun after school snacks around here.

They have to be fun, easy, and cheap... like me!

 The kids really enjoyed this one and

 everything we needed was here already!

 They used a clean paint brush to

coat the raw biscuits on water and food coloring.

 We added raisins for the face and pretzels for the stem. 

We tried chocolate chips, but they didn't work as well. 

You can pretty much use anything you have.

Then we baked 'em up as the package said and

served them with a cup of milk!

Mike wants to make zombie ones next...

hmmm?

The Pumpkin Farm

We made our annual trip out to Devine Acers Farm...

We all absolutely love this place and make a day out of it every year.

This is my very favorite picture of the whole trip...

my whole world in one picture!

At almost three, Adelyn was the perfect age to enjoy every part of the farm

AND hang all day this year!  She just loved these "baby punkins"

 Right away we painted our pumpkins...

this way they are perfectly dry for the ride home!

 Adelyn spent almost 45 minutes just painting her pumpkin...

Mike knocked his out in about 10 minutes!

 While little sister was painting, Mike mined for gold.

They have little rock bags with gems you can mine for... pretty fun!

 The he beat Daddy, at the water pump duck races.

 I have to say the bulk of our time was spent in the hay maze!

 I'm not sure who had more fun, those two chasing, jumping, and laughing,

or Adam and I watching them chase, jump, and laugh! 

Talk about JOY!

 As always, the petting zoo was also a hit.

Mike was such a natural this year at letting the goats eat from his hands.

 I wish you could hear how sweet and loving

 Addy talked to the "babies."

I won't be surprised if a goat ends up on her birthday list!

 They also have a fishing pond, bike track, barrel train, hey ride, horse shoes and washers, marshmallow roasting, live music, sack races, other mazes, and lots of games to play.

I tell ya, this place is so much fun.

The play scape and giant sand pit is one of Mike's favorite parts!

 My favorite part is the fall pictures,,,

 Hard to believe my babies, just aren't babies anymore!

I am so blessed to have fun filled days like this one

 and try to cherish every little tradition I can...

Organic Pumpkin Butter

Girls, this festive, yumminess is easy AND healthy!

 

It is a great alternative to butter...

as there is no butter in it...

yup, just non-fat yogurt!

 

 I found this recipe a few years ago on

The Pioneer Woman's Website.

(my goodness she is amazing!)

I just made it this season for the first time

to take to a Fall Pinterest Party (post to come on that!)

 I made two batches... shared a little, but enjoyed a lot!

We put it on Adam's homemade buttermilk biscuits

 and his cinnamon pancakes... toast, gram crackets, and even frozen waffles.

Can I get a "HECK, YES!"

(Organic) PUMPKIN BUTTER

from The Pioneer Woman

• 1 cup Pumpkin Puree (I used organic)
• 1 cup Plain, Nonfat Yogurt  (I used organic)
• 1 teaspoon Pumpkin Pie Spice
• 1 cup  Powdered Sugar (I added extra)

Mix it all up. Store in the refrigerator.

She says it will keep for five to six days,

 but I found it was gone after three!

Halloween Light Catchers

Addy and I hosted a fun fall play date last week.

We invited all our besties over for some

playtime, snacks, and this super fun craft!

 This Light Catcher craft is perfect for all ages and

can be used for just about any holiday or theme!

 

 To make these easy light catchers...

you need tissue paper cut into small squares,

clear contact paper, a sharpie, and scissors!

 First, trace a shape onto the non-paper side of the contact paper.

Peel the paper off and let the kiddos stick on the paper...

don't worry about going outside of the lines on this one!

Next, sandwich the tissue paper with another sheet of contact paper.

Lastly, cut around the shape and hang it up in a window!

Addy and I are already planning on some Christmas ones!

Ready for Fall

As soon as the kids go back to school and

The Cowboys have their first kick off...

The Fey's get fall fever! 

Never mind we are still in shorts, swimming at the pool,

and slapping on the sunscreen.

 I almost always start the sea off with making the house smell like fall..

that means yummy switching my Scentsy scents,

buying fall candles, and yummy room spray...

but this year I found something VERY exciting....

 Pumpkin Bubble Bath!

and even better this big ole bottle was just $3.99 at Ross!

Since I take a bath every night, you have no idea how happy this find made me.

 We are pulling out all the fall decor... slowly!

One of my favorites is my door hanging...

Remember I made it from a grocery sack!!

But mostly I am up to my neck making these darling Trick or Treat bags.

I had lots of requests to add names to the original designs...

and I completely underestimated the extra time that would take. 

 But they are just so cute!!

Fall Canvas

Fall has certainly snuck on me this year.

I guess I was so busy with birthdays and Halloween,

it almost passed me by.

Have no fear, I did find and hour this past weekend

to make something cute... This cute little canvas was inspired by one of my dreams.

It seems weird, I know,

but if you know me in real life

you know how obsessed I can be about my dreams.

I started by ripping up my copy of Eat Pray Love (ha!)

and then modge-podged the pieces to a cheap canvas.

The pumpkin pattern was from my computer clip art.

I cut it a part, traced it on to pretty scrapbook paper,

and layered on the canvas.

This burlap canvas is just three layered circles

sewn together with a vintage button in the center. Lastly, I added a twine bow and hot glued more twine all around the edge to frame it. Now it sits all alone on a book shelf... waiting for a fall friend or two!

Happy Halloween!

What a fun filled Halloween weekend we had... After our trip to the pumpkin patch we had a pumpkin carving block party.

It was lots of fun. We are thrilled to have such fun neighbors!

Everyone brought a dish and Adam grilled everyone hot dogs. These are marshmallow and blueberry eyeballs-lol.

Even the delicious 7 layer dip was dressed up!

On Monday afternoon we headed out the door to downtown New Braunfels. All of the local shops where handing out candy and treats! Mike was so excited he could hardly contain himself. He was the big bad wolf... more like the cutest little wolf if you ask me!

He really wanted Addy to be a little pig, but that did not seem fair... So she went as Little Red Ridinghood. Poor thing really had no clue what was going on, but thankfully the shoes made her very happy so she went along with it!

This picture is her seeing the first adult in a costume. Then he gave her candy, which she quickly ate. She pretty much kept eating piece for piece on our stroll down town. By the end of the night we are betting she ate her weight in candy!

There were lots of dogs dress up, which the kids loved. This dog even had is own float!

The most exciting thing that happened was meeting this guy... I wish I could have gotten a pic of Mike's face when he saw, he was not the only big bad wolf! Mike would only get close enough to give him a high five-lol.

By the time we got home and ate a fast dinner the door bell was ringing and the kids were chomping at the bit to head out. Guess gone are the 'wait till dark days'-eh? This by the way was pretty much the best shot of the two of the two of them.

I thought making them sit would help me get a good shot, but the just wanted to watch the street and all the costumes. I was so happy with how they looked together. I wonder how many years I can coordinate their costumes before it is too cheesy?

After about five houses, Adelyn starting getting the hang of it. She would say "Trick or treat please!" followed by "Thank you, bye!" and a few times would ask "Which way do I go now?" to the neighbors. Needless to say she raked in the candy for being so cute!

Here is Mike with his Bff... our neighbor Gracie who was a Southern Bell.

and her is the whole gang... how flippin' cute are they? I wish you could feel their energy and excitement- it was so much fun!

I can't forget my Bff... baby Kade!

So our little neighborhood has 62 lots and most are full, but we had pretty low expectations since it is such a new neighborhood, but boy were we surprise.

House after house, neighbor after neighbor... Mockingbird Heights was the happening place to be! and hardly no junky candy either-lol!

At this point Mike's candy bag was dragging the ground. When we dumped it all out, he declared "this is the best Halloween ever!"

Adelyn was tired and I am pretty sure her tummy hurt,

but she was still eating!

I am pretty sure next year she will be willing to wear anything I throw at her! HAPPY HALLOWEEN FRIENDS!
