Playdough Exchange & Playdate

Addy and I hosted a fun Play Dough exchange
and play date awhile back.
It was lots of fun!
I put out simple snacks, juice boxes
 and colorful bowls and napkins.

Each mom signed up to bring a different color play dough.
There were 8 kids, so we bagged up 8 balls of our color to trade.
Each kiddo got to take home 8 fun play dough colors...
what a life saver this was the rest of the week!

Here is the recipe I used from Living Well Spending Less.
I did not use glitter, but another mama did and the kids loved it!

Ingredients

1 cup of flour
1/4 cup of salt
2 teaspoons of cream of tartar
1 cup of warm water

1 tbsp. coconut oil (I used canola oil)
assorted glitter (optional)
assorted essential oils (I used almond extract-haha)

Throw it all in a pot and heat on low... it takes about ten minutes.
It will start to get firm and hard to stir.
Let it cool and ball it up.
So easy and this recipe will last a long time in an air tight container!

Aside from old kid scissors and cookie cutters,
this Melissa & Doug set is our very favorite.

Adelyn did get this as a gift and it has been fun too...
You get to push, pull, and grind up the play dough
to make fun ice cream shapes.
As you can see, it is very fascinating work!
This does requires a little more help from mom, but I like playing with it, too!
Check out my Amazon shop below for the details.

I had three tables set up for the play dough and it worked out great!
I do have wood laminate floors all down stairs, so clean up was a snap.
But this would also, be a fun outside or park play date.
We can't wait to host this one again!

Halloween Light Catchers

Addy and I hosted a fun fall play date last week.
We invited all our besties over for some
playtime, snacks, and this super fun craft!

This Light Catcher craft is perfect for all ages and
can be used for just about any holiday or theme!

To make these easy light catchers...
you need tissue paper cut into small squares,
clear contact paper, a sharpie, and scissors!
First, trace a shape onto the non-paper side of the contact paper.
Peel the paper off and let the kiddos stick on the paper...
don't worry about going outside of the lines on this one!
Next, sandwich the tissue paper with another sheet of contact paper.
Lastly, cut around the shape and hang it up in a window!
Addy and I are already planning on some Christmas ones!

Tea Party Playdate

Adelyn hosted her first Tea Party for her girlfriends.
We asked the girls to wear swimsuits and hats...
Addy was not fond of the hat, but VERY excited!

I pulled out every tea set and cup we had,
my grandmothers doilies,
and a few bud vases with fresh pink flowers.
We had three outside tables set up for filling and pouring.
Plus the blow up pool and water table.
The inside snack table was pretty fancy for the girls...
I wanted to make them feel special like
my great grandmother did for me
 and my cousins growing up!
It was alot of fun, even though it was cloudy.
The biggest hit was this pitcher filled
with water for constant refilling!
We only lost one Tea Cup to a bad fall on the cement!
But like my real Tea Set,
I would rather break pieces
while my friends are using them,
then have them collect dust all alone!
The clouds kept most of our friends away,
so we are doing it again this month
and hope for better weather!

Everything Green Craft Play Date!

In honor of St. Patrick's Day, the kids and I hosted
 an 'Everything Green Play Date"
All the kids wore green and brought green food to share!
We had green jello, green cupcakes,
honey dew melon, green grapes, and
green apple slices with super yummy fruit dip...
I will post that recipe as soon as I beg my friend for it!
And would you believe I found these gummy army guys at HEB!
A whole bag for a buck and they taste like sour apple!
When we have mixed age playgroup
I always try to make the craft easy,
but still process based.
Tearing and gluing paper onto season shapes is perfect.
Our group on this day ranged from 20 months to four years.
Sigh, Mike once again chose not to make the craft,
but just ate, and ate and ate- big surprise!

"Orange" You Glad It's Fall?

The kids and I hosted another fun playdate for all of our new friends. We made these easy and fun torn paper pumpkins
with poster board and orange construction paper.
I had bottles of glue for the big kids and
had q-tips and a little cups of glue for the small kids.
Everyone brought something orange to eat.
We had carrots, jello, oranges, goldfish,
cookies, cheese slices,
orange juice, and cheetos!
Adelyn made THREE orange pumpkins.
She loves making cute stuff, just like her mommy.
Mike?
Oh, he did not even make one!
He was "too busy"... playing!
This craft is perfect for all ages...
the toddlers And the preschoolers enjoyed it.
And it makes for a quick and easy clean up! We ended the fun with orange pumpkin suckers- yum!

Let's go make something,

Kristy
