Summer Fun and Gift Ideas

We just went to the Texas coast
for the fist trip of the summer season.
We like to go to Rockport several times every summer,
not just because my parents,
Lala and Pops, live there,
but also because they have
the perfect bay beach for little ones.

No beach trip is made around here without
our hooded towels.
Mike is now 8, Adelyn is 5 and Molly is 19 months...
All three still love their towels!

Recently I was inspired to design
a few new towels for friends...

Check out this one for my Lego lovers!
This is the perfect gift for the kid
 who has too many Legos,
but still wants Lego stuff for their birthday.
Yes, I speak from experience here!

I am so in love with this classy,
yet adorable Barbie inspired towel.
The bow embellishment really adds a special detail!

Have a little super hero on you gift list?
ME too... several.
Bigs and littles!!

Here is one I made for a tween...
you know those hard to please kids!
Well, this Harry Potter inspired towel was a hit!
She even let her mom share it on Face Book!

I saved the best for last...
our Mermaid towel.
My favorite part about this one,
well aside from the bow embellishment,
is that I can make her hair any color!
Yup, working on a little redhead next!

We just love these towels and take them to
the water park, swim lessons,
and they are even the first towel
my kids go to after a bath.

A special shout out to my models...
Adelyn was nervous about modeling the "boy towel"
for my Etsy photos...
I assured her I wouldn't show her face
 on the shop photos...
but this is the blog!
(wink, wink)

Spring Mason Jars

Easter really came fast this year.
We did not do much decorating,
but I did pull together a few things.

I just love this little ceramic chocolate bunny.
Just a simple touch in our entryway.

He is sitting on a plate, that I believe was my Great Grandmother's.
The eggs are wooden and very neutral from Hobby Lobby.
I have been really loving mason jar crafts and décor this past year.
I guess everyone has because they are all over Pinterest.
This is a little vignette on my kitchen bar top.

This jar is from Target.
It was $1.79.
The eggs inside are from Hobby Lobby
and they are made out of a hard foam.
I was able to really squish them and
place them in the jar exactly
how I wanted because they are pliable.
I added some burlap and checkered ribbon to the top.

The next project I did were these jars for Mike's teachers.
I made a smaller version last year,
but this year I added the EOS chap stick
 that looks like an egg!

These wooden tags were from the dollar spot at Target.
I just added washi tape and wrote a note.
I love how the lid turned out.
They remind me of a striped Easter egg.
It is just spring colored washi tape!

There are just so many cute ideas to make with jars!
Here are a few we wanted to make...

These yummy and sweet looking cake jars are from

Adelyn fell in love with these adorable bunny jars from
Her daughter was able to make these all on her own
and I really like that!

How cute is this Jelly Bean Jar game from
Catherine even gives a link to the free printable jars!!

St. Patrick's Day Fun

Ok, I have to keep it real here...
First, let me blame sleep deprivation,
as Miss Molly has been under the weather
and teething like a maniac.
Thus, I totally thought St Patrick's Day
was Wednesday; not Tuesday!
Eeek, mommy fail!!
This is why you will not see us wearing much green.
So once I realized my mistake,
 I got LUCKY
and pulled out a few fun activities!
We played this silly game with chocolate coins.
I found these at my grocery store for $1.
The kids were busy up stairs and
I quickly hid them around the front room.
I called them down stairs and said,
"The Lucky Leprechaun was here!
He hid his gold and hoped you wouldn't find it!"
They caught on quick and started hunting!
The next two rounds they were the Lucky Leprechaun!
As you can see by Adelyn's face,
she enjoyed trying to trick her big brother!

We do own many St. Patrick's Day books.
But we do like this one.

This Even Bunting is a classic.
While you are looking this one up,
check out all her books.
She is a very favorite of ours!

For lunch Adam made his delicious, fresh guacamole!
This stuff goes quick around here!
We also had pickles and green grapes
 with our turkey sandwiches,
and I colored the kids water green.

The big hit of the day was the
delivery of our new water slide!
It was cool and cloudy and
had absolutely nothing to do with the holiday,
but since it took up most of our afternoon
 I had to include it!

We ended our impromptu
St. Patty's Day celebration
with lime jell-o, whipped cream,
 and green sprinkles.

All in all,
sure I messed up and did not get to do
the craft I had planned and
we missed our fun class at the local book store,
BUT really?  My kids did not care!
We had a great day and nobody got pinched...
Well, not too hard anyway!

PS. Here is the pin of the craft
I wanted to do with all the kids!
CUTE, right?
